Huippu palvelua ja asian tuntevuutta

Taas kerran suuri kiitos, poikesin Oulussa käydesä liikeen pihaan, palvelu oli kiitettävä huolimatta ettei liike ollut virallisesti auki.

I am a student from Germany (Scandinavian studies in Berlin) and wanted to buy a good knife (preferably a Sámi-knive) and was comparing prices and quality in different shops. Marttiini has a nice looking shop with some very well-made knives. The company has an interesting history and is worth a visit. Yet there were some things that bothered me. The friendly lady at the cashregister was very eager on selling those knives, that's no problem since it is her job to do so. But she told us of three knives that they offered that have shaman-teeth worked into the end of the handle and according to the shop (there even is a sign hanging in the store telling this story) this is a Sámi tradition to protect you against evil spirits and bad luck. Well, little did she know that two days later I went to Inari and asked a real Sámi person at the Sámediggi (Sajos, Sámi cultural center) about this magical" knife and he said that this was a fairytale. It's a hoax to screw over tourists (like me) and Finnish people who might actually be interested in Sámi handworks and culture. I bought an authentic fully handmade knife in Inari. It is a bit more expensive but it's the real deal and you support hard working artists who do not get the attention they deserve. Anyway you should visit Marttiini if you are interested in well-made traditional Finnish knives. For Sámi knives go to Sápmi."

I love knives and it was a place I wanted to see. Now to be honest, if you go to a normal Marttiini store you'll have the same result. You can feel that the woman want to sell something, but it's her job (I would have preferred a bit of subtility). Still good to conclude

OK but we expected more. The prices are good, but the choice of knives is quite limited.

Toimitus 26 tunnissa Oulusta Hämeeseen, tilauksesta pakettiin jotain 15min. Ei mistään muualta tule näin nopeasti tavara. Ja sen lisäksi vielä pari tikkaria mukana. 10/5.
