Moose Safari

We were visiting Helsinki and nearly went 600k m north to see moose. We found Joni who told us he could not guarantee seeing one in early May but would try. We took a chance and had a fascinating tour through some lovely scenic country. We started seeing all sorts of deer, then saw several large adults at a distance but quite visible with the glasses Joni loaned us - then this guy just popped up from a ditch ! Joni is a super guy with flawless English who also told us a lot about Finland its history and its culture. Highly recommended

The first time I did this Moose safari was four years ago in 2019. This tour is so amazing that last weekend (august 2023) I went there for my third time ! We always saw moose and lots of deer. Last weekend though we saw in 11 Moose in total, never saw so many ! And this time we could see them from really close. There was a couple with a baby and a mother with two babies.

Big thank you to Joni for his patience & knowledge. We enjoyed every minute of the experience. It was very interesting, hearing about the wildlife and history of Finland. Every opportunity we had to stop, Joni made every effort for the best view possible.Joni picked us up from our apartment and drove us to the location, he supplied us with drinks & binoculars… he is very accommodating. He also took pictures while out on the safari and said he would email them over, which we can’t wait to see. Thanks again, Joni for a fabulous evening that we will not forget. Sarah & Martin

Joni’s moose tour was the main reason we visited Helsinki, though it's a great city and we're planning to return. We were picked up at 1900 from our hotel. Moose would not be active until later so Joni had suggestions on how to fill the time and asked what we’d like to do. This included a bird reserve where we saw cranes. We also talked about moose, other wildlife and Finnish culture and history, with Joni happy to answer our questions. As drove further into the countryside we kept a look out, seeing many deer, and then there they were - our first moose! It was a special moment, and you really appreciate what impressive and distinctive creatures they are. It was a male and female, and we spent some time observing them while they watched us. They were some distance away but Joni provided binoculars so we had a great view. We then drove on, stopping occasionally as we spotted more moose before reaching our final location. Here we had closer views of a large male then a female feeding near the road. There was also a young moose nearby. As we drove back it was getting dark, this being mid-August, but we had a final stop to watch a group of about 6 moose, maybe more, together in a field. It was a real privilege to see these wonderful animals in their natural habitat and not something we could have done without Joni and his local knowledge. This safari is a fantastic chance to experience moose with a guide who is friendly, well informed and who clearly has a passion for local nature.

I had the pleasure of participating in a moose safari that started early in the morning. Despite the cold weather, the experience was simply incredible. The guide Joni knew exactly where to find the gentle giants, and his knowledge about moose was impressive. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to capture one of the best wildlife photos of my life. Joni didn’t provided only fantastic photo opportunities but also a wealth of information about moose and their behavior. He was not just a great guide but also passionate and dedicated to nature. This safari was truly unforgettable, and I am very grateful to Joni for this exceptional experience. I highly recommend this tour to any nature and animal enthusiast. We went on the moose safari as a family of 4 with Joni. We left early in the morning in order to spot the most animals possible and we did!! We saw 10 moose... baby moose, female moose and a giant male moose. We also spotted many deer (lost count). The sun rise was beautiful and so was the nature surrounding us. Joni knew where to go and we happily recommend him.

Joni did not disappoint! He picked me up from my hotel at 430 a.m. and we set out on my safari adventure. The countryside sunrise was beautiful, made especially magical with the moose I so longed to see. First, a male and female in the countryside, and then a mother and baby. The mother and baby sighting was special in that the baby played alongside its mother much to my delight. In addition, I saw all three specifies of Finland deer and many birds.I must mention, much to Joni's disappointment, that I, not him saw the elusive Lynx. Not knowing the Lynx to be a rare sighting, Joni was visibly disappointed to miss the opportunity to see this beautiful animal. As he said, I've lived here all my life and have never seen the Lynx". Much like myself

Moose Safari is a fantastic experience that gives you the opportunity to encounter the moose in its habitat at close vicinity. The area where Joni will bring you to is also fantastic for admiring the Finnish countryside and for taking pictures. Joni will share with you his passion and knowledge of the moose.

When this gentleman advertised that he could drive us to see moose (a wild animal that moves around) I'll be honest....I was a little suspect of his ability to deliver.BOY WAS I WRONG! Our guide was not only friendly, charming, and very well informed...he took us directly where large and wonderful moose were grazing and enjoying the natural wonder of Finland. Better than the view in any zoo or park, this was truly a safari to see these wonderful animals in their natural habitat.100 out of 10! Could not recommend more highly.
