I can't speak for the individual, one-use service but the season pass for 25 euros was very much worth the price. You can always check ahead of time to see if there are bikes available online, which is great. Occasionally I have come across a bike that is inaccessible and oddly locked so you can't take it out which can be a bit annoying (and doubly so if it's the last remaining bike), but this happens rarely. On the one occasions that I had an issue with the bike return, I called up customer service and they refunded my money: The bike did not return properly and said it was checked out for 15+ hours.My recommendation to the customer is to actually stay and verify that they bike return has happened successfully before walking away from the bike after it's return.My suggestion to City Bike is to expand the number of bikes available at Töölö. This is the stop I struggle with the most!

Good idea - not well implemented.Spent a week on vacation riding Fillari - Alepa City Bikes and loved it despite the moment I had to change a bike every 30 mins.Plus half of them in a bad condition or not working.I hope next time I visit Helsinki I'll get better experience.

We rented yesterday two bikes through two different accounts. The first leg went OK, but when we needed bikes for the return, the first station didn't function. So we walked to the next and that did not work either. So, 5 euros well spent" and now we have to wait for three (3) weeks to get an answer/refund from the customer service. Now I realized they had billed me for 5+85 euros..."

Renting three bikes for the day via smartphone and one credit card went smoothly. Problem upon return when the bike station was full and I ended up being charged for over time" (so be careful that return procedures are followed!). However that was resolved and the "fine" returned after Customer Service was contacted by mail."

It is a good starting iniative, a better solution than for exaplex in Tallinn (Helsinki at least has enough renting places.) Most bikes are usable and if you don't travel with friends, then you probably will get bike from most of the rental stands and also most of the time there is room for returning.A good tip is, if you didn't want to pay extra, then get yourself offline citymap or Google map with renting places on it, because you must change bike every 25 minutes or so and you must have extra time to find another rental stand to return the bike, in case the first choice is full.Please be sure, you buy day pass on the same day, you want to use it. You CAN'T buy the day pass in advance!!! If you miscalculate something, the system don't function properly ect. then there is high chance that you won't get your money back, maybe only you can get it into future credit.In conclusion: It is okei, for day trip, if you want to check out city center as an tourist. For longer commutes, it isn't good option, because you need to change bike too often and the renting stands might be full or empty.

Absolutely loved city bikes! Very convenient for travelers, good to get around on and take in the scenery. My favorite part of the system was that even if all the parking spaces for the bike are full you can still leave it there and just lock it to itself! We don't have this option in Slovenia and it was a true game changer for me - saves so much time and hassle!

Most of the bikes do not lock or unlock at the first trial, and on average you need to try to lock the bike 4-5 times before you finally are able to park it.Instructions are in Finnish everywhere except on the website, which makes it very un-intuitive to figure out the specifics of the system while wandering around the city.The bikes are unevenly distributed and most of the time you find stations with no bikes when you need one, and full stations when you need to park a bike.Overall I found the system to be very unreliable, unstable and overall a very bad experience. Stick to metro and buses.

I really like the idea behind it, but the end result is quite bad at the moment.The first problem is that there are never any bikes at the stations available if needed. You always need to check the annoying stations map and walk a kilometer to a different station to find out that the station or the bike are broken.There are no English instructions on the bikes, so you need to put some time into researching to understand how it works, which is quite annoying.There is so much potential in it, I really hope they try to take some of the criticism seriously and improve the stations and the bikes.
