Made in Helsinki, made with Finnish clay, made by hand - each individual piece. My experience: I was so lucky to have met Eva through a mutual friend. The first clay building workshop opened up a deep fascination with clay. Having a go at throwing (under Eva's guidance) made me want to do nothing more than just sit at the wheel and continue learning. Fast forward some months, a handful of workshops & studio events later, and I was accepted as a studio assistant. Being utterly new to the world of ceramics, it was all an ongoing process of learning. Listen, observe and repeat. I like that I was able to contribute, to be useful, learn and help around the studio.I'm grateful that Eva took the chance to be my mentor, and I'm glad I was able to grow from the experience. We are moving from Helsinki in a few weeks, and I am so sad to be leaving, but glad for the next challenge. ...Well, more ceramics of course. :)Eva is patient but straight forward. She is passionate about Cermaics, having worked in this industry for over 35 years, she is looking to encourage people to try something new, something very tactile, and learn about the possibilities of sustainability for this craft along with the variety of it's applications. She's also very up front about how challenging it is to actually make a living making ceramics, and her experiences put your feet back on the ground before you get too caught up in the Romanticism of making art.For those who have caught the pottery bug, like i did, she offers private & group sessions, and she is also teaching group courses (where everyone has their own wheel and can make an much as they like) at Iittala & Arabia Design Centre (in Arabia) about once a month / two day weekend course. She also hosts clay building workshops at her studio, so keep an eye out.Once is not enough, I assure you.
