This place is run by biking enthousiasts. Top notch bikes for very reasonable prices. I went for a trip to discover the surroundings of Helsinki by myself and it was amazing! Maarten gave me some great advice for some winding backroads.Hopefully I can find the time to ride again during my next visit to Finland.

I had a great experience renting a gravel bike from those guys. The team is super professional and very friendly and kind.Even though I've done my order really at the last moment, the bike was fitted with saddle of my choice and tuned to my measurements.The bikes are top quality and highly maintained!Thanks for wonderful cycling week!

Not many place rent gravel bikes, so good offering and bike was in good condition.A big minus: however: it took over a month to get the 150EUR bike deposit back, and even then after asking them twice...A minor minus: bike availability status was not correct on the web site, luckily I called them first to know if I can get a bike of my size.

The only place in Helsinki for high quality bikes been using them now for 3 years and always offer great bikes friendly service!! Great routes offered as well. The new shop is excellent as well!

Friendly service and good quality rental bikes with reasonable prices.

I waited to write this review because I was hoping for a different outcome.Here’s a bit of background. I was so happy when I found Breakaway cc as I had wanted to try gravel biking without committing to a gravel bike first. My friend had recommended me the service so I felt confident that I would get a great bike, which I did (1 star for that).I rented a bike in June 2023. While the renting process was a bit funny, with nearly no information on the site and having to be in touch with Breakaway over email, I did eventually get the answers I needed and felt confident enough to rent a bike and to pay the 150 € deposit.During my rental I got in touch with Breakaway cc over email and requested to extend my rental asking for what an extra day would cost. I was given a price of 60 € for the extra day and told that it would be taken out from the deposit of 150 €. I agreed and returned my bike as agreed. I was really pleased with my experience and I emphasized to the Breakaway cc employee I met, that I was really eager to try out their other bikes.After a while I noticed, however, that my deposit had not been returned. I emailed the company for a status update 2 times before getting an answer back 3 weeks later. I received an explanation that my deposit had to be returned manually due to the extension, causing the delay. It was now the end of July.However, the extra day seemed to have cost me 70,20 € instead of the 60 € that had been communicated to me over email. As no VAT had been mentioned in the email, I set out to ask Breakaway cc for an explanation to the inconsistency. After two attempts to get an answer the communication stopped.It was now August and I decided to be in touch with the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (KKV), as I wanted a confirmation of whether a price agreed over an email was legally binding. My inquiry was handled and the Consumer Advisory Service confirmed that the agreed price of 60 € was binding. I sent a reclamation to the company and a request for an answer, but no answer. The KKV sent a directive 2 weeks later, no answer.Yes, I realize that the sum of 10 € is not a significant sum to lose and probably not worth all this effort. However, what has really saddened me in this whole ordeal is the way I have been treated as a loyal potential customer.I also don’t think this is how a company should be run, with deals made over email and agreements not being honored. It is ok, to be flexible, young and not have your website in order but the more I have engaged with this issue the more I feel like it is not about inexperience but about negligence and structural mismanagement. I don’t know if the price I was promised was a mistake but not owning up to it was an intentional choice made by the owners of Breakaway cc.I gave Breakaway cc multiple opportunities to handle this right and I am really disappointed it turned out this way. I will not be renting from them again, which I am sad about, but I don’t want to support botched business practices. To all future renters, do as you find best. As I said 10 € is not a big loss but as long as you are ok with the way Breakaway cc might handle your rental and requests for support then I have nothing to add.Had to shorten my story quite a bit bu I hope this is helpful and indicative of my experience.

Bike shop / cafe / social space for gravel cyclists. Super good barista quality coffee. Bike shop which arranges social rides etc.

Super nice shop with very friendly and helpful staff. They rent the best bikes in town which enables you to explore the beautiful landscape around Helsinki. Highly recommended!
